North Korea Madness

Wrote a facebook note the other day about something going down I'm not to happy.

This whole financial crisis is consuming the news. Frankly, I'm torn. I don't want be cold and uncompassionate to those who are losing their lifesavings, but on the other hand the news is cold and uncompassionate about those who are losing their lives.

Apparently nearly 3 million people will be starving in North Korea by the end of november.

That is so much more important to me.

Is it more important to you?

Question

What are you doing?

You can ask many and very reasonable questions of others, specifically the insanely greedy and wealthy, but it is worthless if you do not ask yourself first.

If you see your brother has a speck of dust in his eye you can't help him until you get the stick out of your own.

Sean Connery's 250 grand

This is interesting:

Apparantly for two days of work on the film Robin Hood: Prince of Theives Sean Connery got 250,000. He then donated it to charity.

Other famous actors shoudl try doing the same.

How much do you actually need?

Really.

How much of what you spend your money on do you actually need?

There are people who survive on less than a dollar a day, yet sometimes we spend up to twenty. Why?

The reality is: we could survive on a lot less. We train our minds to think we are living near the bare minimum. We idolize celebriites and think to ourselves "I must be living on less compared to them." And it's true. You are.

But don't compare yourself to celebrities.

Instead compare yourself to the world's least well off. Not only will you be a lot more thankful and appreciative of your God-given life but also you will begin to realingn your values and your new values will make more of a lasting impact on the world that your old ones.

Trust me.

Same Focus - Different Target

As you know this blog is completely dedicated to debasing the foolish spending habits (and hoarding habits). But celebrities are by no means the only targets.

You see we are all celebrities.

I know, lame seguey, but still the way we hoard and spend is very similar to theirs. It's just that we have less money. We do (as do I as well) project our own social conscience guilt on them. Though we are guilty.

We are guilty.

What are you going to do today?

Is that going to help someone or hurt them? There is no such thing as an action that does not effect someone else either positively or negatively. It's impossible.

What are you going to do today?

You can get something from nothing.

Seinfeld, just in syndication, has earned its creators near 250 million dollars. This is not counting the money they actually made when the show was on the air.

Imagine for a second: shows like Seinfeld deciding that after they air their season finale the all the money can go to some form of relief charity? Is that so much to ask?

I mean they already have made millions from the show: why make more for yourself when you can make more for others?

What do you think?

My idea: what do you think?

Basically I came up with it when I realized: I can't buy an ipod. Not because I don't have the money but I can't justify it ethically. Spending hundreds of dollars on something I don't need. But what if it could do both? What if it could give me enjoyment (which is only secondary) and give others life (which is primary).

The idea is also good because people would do it. Political consumerism works better than simple charity. Think the red campaign.

But, what say you?

May the Force be with WHO?

I wish it was with the poor. The downtrodden. The outcasts.

But no it's with Lucas. 200 million in 2008.

Trump and His Champaigne

Apparenlty Donald Trump has a $365,000 mobile champagne cooler.

Leonardo DiCaprio has 20 prada suits. One prada suit costs over a thousand dollars.

When Paris Hilton turned 21 she had 5 international Birthday parties, each costing over 75,000 dollars.

Just to keep you thinking.....

300 of the worst scum on earth. A list of the most evil people.

Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_billionaires_(2005)

Oh, I apologize for having "Linked" posts, I'll post regular ones soon.

Just so you know I calculated together they have 1400 billion unneccesary dollars. 1.4 Trillion. Just these 300 could reach the UN's estimated rate.... for seven years. Imagine the millions of lives these people could save. They could change the planet for ever.

If only they were good.

Sigh. I'm depressed....

And a bit angry.

What if Blockbusters could change the world?

That's a question a lot of movie producers/artists/directors ask.

And the answer is yes.

Take a look at this list:

Okay, so if it takes 195 billion dollars a year couldn't hollywood help a bit? You know the whole list adds up to nearly 130 billion dollars. Hmm. That's a good chunk ain't it?

195 Billion Dollars a Year...

The UN estimates that it will take 195 billion dollars a year to get rid of extreme poverty and the diseases related to huner and poverty. So. Hard?

Nope.

Over the next year, once per week, I will devise a solution for an easy 195 billion dollars a year, that requires only less greed.

In the meantime check this out:

Check out where else 195 billion dollars is spent.

The Joker and the joke

If you've seen the Dark Knight you know that the whole thing is about the Joker exposing the human condition for what it is. Shallow, unjust and evil. The film itself had a 180 million dollar budget, yet made a profit of over 400 million worldwide.

So here's the question: what would the Joker do the films producers if he were real?

It's a serious question. They profited off a movie about being good. It's ironic. Yet wouldn't that just make the Joker want to play with them? Do something to make them realize how hypocritical they are? Like he did to all the characters in there film?

Think about it.

David Beckham or 3500 Wells?

I used to say I hate this guy.

When I first heard he was playing for the LA galaxies and was getting payed 250 million dollars to do it I nearly ripped my index finger off with my teeth. Albeit that would have been less painful to here than that.

OK. We get it. He's good at soccer. But why should that earn him so much dirty money? I looked it up on Living Water internationals website, they build wells for those who badly need water for 70,000 dollars a pop. Well, with Beckham's salary he could build more that 3500 wells. Do you know how many live that could save?

I'm glad in soccer you aren't allowed to use your hands, else that soccer ball would be a dark crimson from blood stains because of Mr. Beckham.

Howard "*@#$%" Stern!

I won't do it.

I won't swear.

But 302 *bleeping* Million dollars?

His swearing doesn't offend me. His frankly murderous greed does.

U2

This one makes me sad. Bono, the guy who basically told the world that 30,000 children die each day from preventable causes. 110 million. I weep, or at least I should be. That's so much. Lives I mean.

Oprah.

225 Million dollars? Hmm. 'Nuf said.

Remember that school in Africa? She spent more on one of her houses than she did on that.

But Oprah, if you're listening, please don't take offence. We recognize we waste money on things too. We're also hypocrites. Let's all change together. I don't want your money. But I know who might... the parents of those twelve kids who died while reading this post.

Forbes 100

Yep. That's the list. The list we'll be picking on is the forbes 100 from 2006. Okay. Maybe somethings have changes, but not much. I'll pick on some of the more famous ones, showing what they (waste) their money on and asking us to help them be free of that! Using their money to save people's lives!

It's True!

Celebrities are too rich!

Not that we're completely innocent either, we're all too rich! Anyone who can read these words (not to mention anyone who types them) is richer than most of the world.

Hard truth: People are dying! In fact, Children are dying from preventable causes. Over thirty-thousand children die each day from causes directly related to their extreme poverty. Yet we have millionaires. What a disgusting world we live in.

This website is dedicated to one thing: the souls of celebrities. Don't get me wrong, what they're doing is wrong, but they are almost slaves to the evil. I hope they get free from their materialism! I wish they could be liberated from their bondage to greed!

This is the only pro-celebrity website out there, because it is dedicated to helping them not enabling them!

I want you to get it straight: I don't hate them, only the greed that consumes them. The greed that locks them from the outside world and allows thousands (many of them children) to die each day.

But this doesn't get you off the hook! Do something good! Be bold! Live free of greed and consumerism, and as you live free help others be free of extreme poverty and hunger!
